How to make semi realistic fire
Mon Jul 30, 2012 6:53 am
In this tutorial, I will be teaching YOU how to make realistic fire in Photoshop. I will be using CS5 Extended. If you are using a later version, just look for the tools.
First make a new document in Photoshop, preferably 500 x 500 in pixels, for this example. Now, using the fill tool, make the background black.
Now, select the Elliptical Marquee Tool and make a thin oval and fill it with white.
Now, deselect the circle using Ctrl+D. Switch to your smudge tool now and set it at 50 pixels and 50 opacity. Change the brush size from 50 or lower depending on the size of your oval and the size you want the flames.
Using the smudge tool, sweep from the black over the oval at medium speed.
Now, smudge over the rest, but not in sweeps.
Make sure when you smudge the rest, you re-smudge the flames, so they stick out.
Now, we actually make it look like fire!
Go to Layer — New Adjustment Layer — Color Balance
After clicking color balance, a new window will pop up. Where it says color, change it to red.
Now, change the color balance settings to these:
For alternate colored fire, mess around with the color balance.
The Final result should look like this:
If it does not look like that, keep trying! Eventually, you will get it!
May not be a good tut but it def helps beginners!
